Joanne Montagner-Hull, CPA
Joanne has over 30 years of extensive experience improving the profitability and effectiveness of organizations large and small through business process improvement. Her focus is enhancing the connections between soft skills and the expertise of technical and management professionals. Having worked with various types of organizations, from Fortune 500 high-tech firms to the creative staffs of entertainment firms such as Motown Records and Disney, Joanne has established a track record of success through staff and team development, combined with cost control and process effectiveness.
Joanne is a CPA / Consultant, who has owned and operated a firm here in Ohio since 1996.
Before that, she had a similar firm in Southern California, for five years. Previously, she spent six years as a corporate tax specialist, and then branched into private industry as a controller and chief financial officer for another six years. Her training and organizational development programs range from various management topics, to team building, to staff and board development topics, to extensive financial management topics.
Joanne is a CPA in Ohio, and was a CPA in California as well. Joanne has a Bachelors Degree in Accounting from Cleveland State University. She has taught undergraduate level accounting college courses. She has spoken to technical and professional groups, regionally and nationally. Kim has over 14 years of experience with bookkeeping and operational accounting. Her experience includes payables and the associated job cost accounting for several large construction firms, processing weekly disbursements of over $800,000 per week. She also processed payroll for over 120 employees, handled workers compensation claims, supervised office personnel and managed the personnel functions. Most recently, she has worked at a high tech firm where time and billing and job costing were also required for complex billing processes, as well as handling the collection function. In addition, she has rehabbed several homes on her own, operating as the general contractor. Her eye for detail, her conscientiousness and her genuine empathy for what challenges are clients face each day uniquely qualify her for the YBC team.
Lauren M. Penkala
Lauren has over four years in tax exempt entities management, including housing coordinator, job developer and program administrator for Catholic Charities Migration & Refugee Services, and as Executive Director of Hands On Northeast Ohio. Her roles have included responsibility for volunteer management, donation coordination and job placement, as well as financial management in each of these roles. Lauren was also the head coach of the rowing program at her Alma matter, John Carroll University, where she recruited, coached and trained the competitive crew, developed training schedules, managed the equipment and the resources. She also was a coach for the adult programs of Western Reserve Rowing Association.
Lauren has also served on the boards of the Cleveland Rowing Foundation, and the Refugee Services Collaborative of Greater Cleveland. She currently serves on the board of All Faiths Pantry.
Lauren graduated from John Carroll with a Bachelor of Arts with a major in Sociology, and a minor in French, and an area of concentration in Health, Human Services and Social Justice.
Lauren lives in Cleveland, Ohio.
Jim Renz, CMA
Jim has over six years’ experience in accounting with a worldwide specialty chemical company, where his roles included month end reconciliation processes and financial statement production. He also worked on receivables, internal reporting, revenue and profitability analyses, use of KPI’s and analytics, and process improvement with the company’s suppliers to support best pricing and practices. He managed the creation and processes for sales budgeting, forecasting mechanisms, and daily profitability tracking. He is adept in analytical skills necessary to compare data and turn financial data into sound and logical decisions. He is well versed in Microsoft Office Suite, SQL and Microsoft Report Builder.
Jim also served in the United States Army, from 2010 to 2014, serving as leader of groups of soldiers of six to seven at a time. He served as a Medic, holding squad leader and team leader positions. His army decorations include the Army Commendation Medal, the Army Achievement Medal with two oak leaf clusters, and the Good Conduct Medal.
